Let me introduce you to Evernote

If you have been looking for a tool that will actually simplify your life, not just make empty promises, you’ve found it. This post will share just ten of the oodles of ways Evernote can serve as your backup brain, help you contain the clutter of all the information we have to collect and remember day in and day out, and change your life.

And I quote:

Work anywhere. Keep important info handy by syncing your notes to all your devices.

Capture what matters. Add text, images, audio, scans, PDF’s, and documents to your notes.

Your notes, your way. Express yourself with formatting tools that help you write how you think.

Find things fast. Get what you need, when you need it. Search gives your results as you type.”

As a longtime Evernote user and a certified Evernote Expert, I can tell you all of those things are true, and more!

Here are the top ten ways Evernote literally changed my life.

1. I stopped losing notes.
There’s nothing more frustrating than writing down important details on a scrap of paper and then losing it. Since I now save those notes by either typing them directly into Evernote or scanning them there, I can find them again whenever I use Evernote’s powerful search feature.

2. I got organized. The other problem with lots of paper notes is keeping them all sorted and categorized. Maybe it’s just me, but in the crazy of life, I could not keep everything together. After I started collecting my details in Evernote and sorted them by categories, my organization improved dramatically.

3. I had what I needed when I needed it. My family and my business require access to lots of different kinds of information on the go. By scanning in important papers or taking notes directly in Evernote, I have access to what I need even when I’m not home. Which leads to another amazing part of Evernote…

4. I enabled myself to work remotely. I don’t like the cold of winter and it’s always been a dream of mine to work in a warmer climate for at least part of the winter. Thanks to Evernote, I did exactly that, spending the whole month of January in the sunny warmth of Tampa. I was able to work from there, thanks to having my whole business set up to work in Evernote. That also means…

5. I made it possible to work with a remote team from anywhere in the world. Because notes and notebooks in Evernote can be shared with anyone using the app, it’s possible to collaborate on projects with anyone anywhere. VA’s, I see you!

6. I simplified my life. By having just one place to put every single important piece of information, I no longer have to remember where things are. I just automatically go to Evernote and voilá! There it is!

7. I streamlined my business. One of the biggest tips about using Evernote that you can ever learn is the concept of templates. Any repeatable task can be broken down into repeatable steps on a template you can duplicate and use over and over again. Templates also help me not to forget to collect every single piece of important data related to a job.

8. I improved the productivity of our team. Another way to really leverage Evernote is to create a custom dashboard that consolidates all the ongoing projects in just one place with links out to notes with all the details. One glance at the dashboard tells everyone the current status of each job. Drag and drop note links around the dashboard all day to keep each project in “live” status. Start with Evernote’s Home and build out from there.

9. I shortened my tech stack. Most people working digitally today pile on several tech tools to accomplish everything they need to do. Because Evernote is so flexible and can be molded to do so many different tasks, I find it replaces many other tools such as project management and CRM. Fewer tools means less time spent learning and keeping up with those tools (not to mention saves you money on renewals!).

10. I built a backup brain. How many other apps do you know of will function just like YOUR brain does? Evernote can be structured to work the way you do. And that’s a beautiful thing if solutions in a box don’t work for you like they don’t for me. I needed a tool that I could mold into what I needed. Evernote is it.

Intrigued?

First, you need to be using Evernote. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, I recommend investing in the Personal or Professional version with all the bells and whistles which costs less for the whole YEAR than most apps charge per MONTH! After you download it, please send me a message that you signed up and what email address you used to sign up as I keep a list of clients who sign up for Evernote so I can stay in touch to tell you about updates and other important Evernote news.

Then click here to schedule a chat. In our Zoom session. we’ll determine if we’re a good fit for each other to work together to help you learn how to use Evernot and set it up the way you want it.

This post is a lot of “what” and not a lot of how, so let me invite you to learn more in one of two ways. I periodically run Evernote workshops to train small groups of 8-10 people on how to set up and use Evernote. I also offer one-on-one consulting where I’m all yours to ask all your questions in one shot. Choose the link below that works the best for you to join my next workshop (when one is scheduled) or book some time with me to learn how to use Evernote for life!
